Statement DGTL on ownership

Update Friday May 23, 2025

Together with our fellow festivals, we have expressed our dissatisfaction about KKR to Superstruct. This has led to the following commitment: All profits from DGTL, and other festivals within Superstruct, will not flow to our investors, including KKR. Instead, all profits will be used to support the development of these festivals. We are working on the practical implementation of this commitment.

Statement Monday May 19, 2025

Electronic music has always stood for freedom, resistance and unity. As a global festival rooted in these values, DGTL holds a deep responsibility to the communities we work with, from the artists we invite to the visitors who gather on our dancefloors.

DGTL stands for honesty, responsibility, and transparency. Yet, we find ourselves linked to something that conflicts heavily with our core beliefs.

In 2022, DGTL became part of Superstruct Entertainment, under the clear condition that our creative and ethical autonomy would remain intact. Since then, we have continued to operate independently in our programming, partnerships and direction, guided by the same core pillars that shaped us from the start: music, art, sustainability and social responsibility.

These pillars are not slogans. They are principles we live by. Over the years, we have built a circular festival model, supported inspiring art and worked to create a space that is safer and more inclusive. These efforts are ongoing, and the responsibility is ours to uphold.

In October 2024, Superstruct’s parent company was acquired by investment firm KKR. We were not informed in advance, nor were we involved in this acquisition.

Since then, credible reports have come to light about KKR’s unethical investments, which directly go against what we stand for as a festival.

We recognize that the world’s highest court, the International Court of Justice, has ruled that Israel is plausibly committing genocide in Gaza and practicing apartheid and occupation against the Palestinian people.

DGTL does not align with KKR’s unethical investments. While we have no influence over decisions made at the highest levels of ownership, we want to state this clearly: no ownership structure will ever define who we are or what we stand for. Our direction will always be shaped by our values.

We stand with our community. With those who refuse silence. We will continue building a festival that questions, connects, and makes space for change.
