A deep-dive into our brand new Current stage
These sunrays prove it-DGTL is getting closer! As your probably know by now, we're adding an entirely new stage to our flagship festival this year: Current. To get the excitement going, we'd love to takw you through what you can expect once more.
The Current is a club and a festival stage at the same time. The stage is outdoors, but it also feels like you’re inside because all the daylight is covered. We wanted to embrace the historic story of the IJ-Helling where boats will be led to water on the NDSM-Docklands. We brought that into the design because we wanted to truly connect with the water. At most stages, the focus is often on the DJ, but with Current, we wanted to do it differently. With its 360-degree layout, you can experience the space in various ways.

We also had a chat with our bookers about the artists that we'll welcome at our new stage. “We noticed that within the electronic music scene the Eurodance, Neotrance and Hardhouse sound is doing well at the moment. But we had a difficult time figuring out on which of our stages it would fit the best, so we made a new stage.” Artist booker Welmer expects the Current stage to be buzzing with energy, with Eurodance heavyweights like Malugi and DJ Heartstring setting the tone. “It’ll be impossible not to dance”, says Welmer. “Challenge accepted”.
