We’re creating a 160 m² LED installation for DGTL Amsterdam 2026
This April, a large-scale artwork will appear on our festival grounds: a 160 m² LED installation that brings together light, sound and movement in an immersive audiovisual experience.
Created as part of the DGTL Academy in partnership with ABN AMRO, the installation will showcase the work of six emerging artists who have spent the past six months developing original audiovisual pieces for this monumental screen.
Designed together with 250K
To realise an installation of this scale, we collaborated with 250K, a creative agency known for designing large-scale digital experiences and installations.
Together, we developed an LED structure that transforms into an interactive canvas for audiovisual storytelling, a space where technology and art meet. Rather than simply watching a screen, you’ll become part of the artwork itself.
An artwork that responds to you
The installation uses motion tracking technology, allowing the artwork to reveal itself through movement.
When you approach the screen, the artwork begins to appear. As you move, the visuals move with you, creating a dynamic interaction between you and the piece.
When multiple people stand in front of the installation, the artwork unfolds further, gradually revealing its full form. The experience evolves depending on the presence and movement of the audience, making every interaction unique.
Six artists, three audiovisual collaborations
The installation will feature audiovisual works created by the six talents of the DGTL Academy Class of 2026.
Three music producers and three visual artists were paired into duos, each collaborating to develop a unique audiovisual piece. Their works combine sound, visuals and storytelling, resulting in immersive compositions that will be presented throughout the day in a show format on the installation.
By bringing together different artistic disciplines, the DGTL Academy encourages experimentation and collaboration, giving emerging artists the space to develop new forms of expression.
Creating space for new talent
The installation is part of the DGTL Academy, created in partnership with ABN AMRO, an initiative that supports emerging female talent in music and visual arts.
Through the Academy, artists are given the time, mentorship and resources to develop their practice and shape their own creative voice. Over a six-month trajectory, the participants collaborate with industry mentors and each other, culminating in a collective artwork presented at DGTL Amsterdam.
By creating space for new perspectives and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, the DGTL Academy aims to contribute to a more equal and inclusive creative industry.
This installation is the result of that journey, a platform where the artists’ ideas, sounds and visuals come together on a monumental scale.
