Calling all creatives to reimagine the NDSM Container Arch
Background
The NDSM Container Arch has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the NDSM docklands, a bold structure that connects art, industry, and community. Over the past few years, it has transformed multiple times to reflect the creative pulse of the area and the evolving identity of both NDSM and DGTL.
For 2026, we’re once again looking for creative talent to give the NDSM container arch a striking new design. Together with Stichting NDSM, we invite artists to reimagine this iconic landmark. We’re looking for creators who can think big, act fast, and turn ideas into impact.
Who can apply?
We’re looking for muralists, graffiti artists, and street artists who can create an exciting design reflecting the dynamic character of the NDSM Docklands and DGTL. Applications are open to individuals, duos, collectives, or studios. A formal creative education isn’t required, but a strong personal vision and style are essential. This open call offers artists the chance to make a bold statement in Amsterdam-Noord’s public space. The artwork will remain on display for approximately one year, subject to additional graffiti.
Criteria
Based in The Netherlands
Experience with murals, graffiti, street art, or graphic design
Experience with large-scale outdoor work is preferred
Theme
To get your creative engines running, we want to share this year’s theme with you, a concept that can serve as inspiration for your design. The theme for DGTL 2026 is CTRL//BREAK.
CTRL//BREAK is the start of a next chapter. The time for passive dreaming is over. The world is shifting politically, environmentally, and culturally, and the need for direct action is more urgent than ever. On the dance floor and beyond, we move, break, and rebuild together.
CTRL//BREAK is about rupture and recalibration. It is the moment we stop waiting for change and start making it, moving forward with speed, clarity, and purpose. It represents rebellion through precision and movement born from intention and love. Your design could reflect this sense of momentum, energy, and transformation.
Design Guidelines
