Weval (live)
Weval is a Dutch electronic music duo made up of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers. The two met in 2010 while working in the film industry and quickly discovered a shared passion for music. Merijn’s background in trip-hop and Harm’s influences from house and jazz combined to form the foundation of their distinctive sound. Their first EP, Half Age, was released on Atomnation in 2013, followed by their live debut at Pitch Festival the same year.
The duo gained wider recognition in 2014 when their track Detian from the Half Age EP featured in a Schweppes commercial with Penelope Cruz, reaching number five on the French iTunes Electronica chart. Their remix of Gui Boratto’s Take Control also hit number one on Beatport’s Electronica Top 100. Known for their emotive, melodic approach to electronic music, Weval continue to evolve their sound, with new releases forthcoming on the legendary Kompakt label.
