Joy Orbison
Joy Orbison, the London-born alias of Peter O’Grady, sits at the crossroads of UK club culture. His sound pulls from dubstep, UK funky, garage, house and jungle, merging them into a warm, rolling, instantly recognisable signature. Raised on the music of his uncle Ray Keith, he grew up on a steady diet of jungle and UKG, started DJing at thirteen, and later began sketching grime loops in Fruity Loops before expanding into the hybrid style he’s now known for.
His breakthrough came in 2009 with Hyph Mngo, a track that reshaped the direction of UK bass music and quickly became a cult classic. Since then, Joy Orbison has continued to carve out his own lane, blending soulful influences with dancefloor weight, guided by an eclectic palette that spans J Dilla to My Bloody Valentine, GG Allin to The Beach Boys.
A key voice in the evolution of modern UK club music, Joy Orbison remains a boundary-pushing presence, forever exploring new shades of rhythm, texture and emotion.
