Camelphat
CamelPhat are on top of the world. The Liverpool duo — Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala — have built on one of the biggest global crossover dance hits of the modern era without losing an ounce of credibility. Despite billions of streams, they remain more committed than ever to real dancefloors. Their massive 20-date residency at Ibiza’s iconic Pacha, packed with underground guests, and the launch of their label When Stars Align prove it. On that label, they’ll soon release their second album Spiritual Milk, featuring London Grammar, Jake Bugg, Noel Gallagher, Kölsch, and Ali Love.
Since their breakout single Cola went supernova in 2017, CamelPhat have worked relentlessly to prove they’re the real deal. Both lifelong DJs from Merseyside, they bonded in a Liverpool record shop over a love of funky house and soon started producing together. Through the 2000s they built a loyal following with their club residency Society, but their local success limited their reach — until they reinvented themselves in 2008. Donning wrestling masks, naming themselves CamelPhat, and pretending to be from Milan, they uploaded tracks to SoundCloud and instantly caught the attention of tastemakers like Pete Tong and Annie Mac.
Their subtle, groove-driven sound stood apart from the bombastic EDM wave, while their playful anonymity fit perfectly with the mysterious spirit of European house. When The Act became a Glastonbury anthem in 2014 and Cola followed three years later, CamelPhat went stratospheric — their original, haunting house sound defining a new era.
Even as fame grew, they stayed instinctive and independent — booking shows through word of mouth, avoiding management, and following what they call their “anti-philosophy”: doing the opposite of the obvious. Eventually, the chaos turned into clarity. In 2022, they launched When Stars Align, a label and creative platform symbolizing how everything in their career had fallen into place.
Now, with their Pacha residency, global tours, and their biggest project yet — the Spiritual Milk album — CamelPhat stand alongside acts like Four Tet and The Chemical Brothers, crafting live experiences as bold and expansive as their music. And as ever, just when you think you know what to expect, they’ll prove you wrong.
